The right-hander didn't allow a runner to reach second base in the dominant performance, which broke a personal seven-game winless streak.

Joey Devine tossed a perfect eighth inning and Andrew Bailey earned his eighth save with a 1-2-3 ninth as the A's avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Mariners.

Scott Sizemore drove in both A's runs with a first-inning solo homer and a fifth-inning single.

Seattle's Jason Vargas (6-6) pitched a complete-game loss, allowing just the two runs on five hits, walking one and fanning six.
