SANDWICH, England, July 5 (UPI) -- French Open winner Thomas Levet broke a bone in his shin when he jumped into a lake after winning the weekend event.
The injury Sunday forced the 42-year-old Frenchman to withdraw from this week's Barclays Scottish Open and puts his status for next week's British Open in jeopardy, though he has not ruled himself out, ESPN reported Tuesday.
Sportinglife.com reported Levet had his leg put in a cast.
"Sorry guys ....next time ...it is only a leg...no other damage...you win some you lose some...life is a funny lady!!!" Levet posted on his Twitter account.
Levet's representatives at International Management Group issued a statement saying he won't pull out of the British Open "until he has received intensive treatment to the fracture and has consulted with a specialist again later this week," ESPN reported on its Web site.
"He will, of course, be doing everything he can to tee up at the Open Championship next week," the IMG statement said.
