MLB: Minnesota 7, Tampa Bay 0

MINNEAPOLIS, July 4 (UPI) -- Brian Duensing tossed a six-hit shutout and Danny Valencia belted a three-run homer Monday in Minnesota's 7-0 victory over Tampa Bay.

Duensing (6-7) hurled his second career shutout and won for the third time in four starts. The left-hander overcame four walks and struck out seven, benefiting from a pair of Minnesota double plays.

Valencia went 3-for-4, capping his day with a three-run shot in the eighth inning as the Twins snapped a five-game home losing streak against Tampa Bay.

Michael Cuddyer added a solo shot and Tsuyoshi Nishioka chipped in with a two-run double in Minnesota's win.

Rays starter David Price (8-7) was touched for four runs on five hits over six innings, waking one and striking out six.

Sean Rodriguez and Casey Kotchman each had a pair of hits for Tampa Bay.
