The blueliner went to on to play 65 games for the Flames. He registered a combined 11 goals and 24 assists in 82 games for both squads.

"Anton Babchuk is a sound positional player on the back line and perhaps one of our most adept defenseman at pinching down the wall to keep the play alive in the offensive zone," Flames General Manager Jay Feaster said.

Babchuk was a first-round draft pick by Chicago in the 2002 draft. He has tallied 34 goals and 62 assists in 250 career games.
