AUGSBURG, Germany, July 2 (UPI) -- Lisa Dahlkvist's goal in the 64th minute Saturday gave Sweden a 1-0 win over North Korea in the Women's World Cup in Germany.
Sweden advanced to the next round of the tournament when the United States knocked off Colombia 3-0 in the day's other Group C match.
North Korea needed a win by the Colombians to avoid elimination.
Dahlkvist's goal salvaged another unproductive day for Sweden's offense. The Swedes won their opener against Colombia 1-0 and continued to have trouble capitalizing on scoring chances Saturday.
Striker Charlotta Schelin missed on two solid opportunities, and goalkeeper Sara Thunebro had to make a desperate save in the 66th minute to prevent the North Koreans from tying the score.
