ANAHEIM, Calif., June 29 (UPI) -- Vernon Wells and Hank Conger hit two-run homers Tuesday to lead the Los Angeles Angels past Washington 11-5.
Wells was 4-for-5, Mark Trumbo drove in three runs and Erick Aybar added a solo home run for the Angels, who outhit the Nationals 15-11 and scored five runs in the eighth inning to put the game away.
The Angels have won seven of their last nine games.
Laynce Nix led Washington with a 4-for-4 performance.
Collin Balester (1-1) took the loss for Washington and was also tagged with a blown save.
Hisanori Takahashi (2-1) also had a blown save, but he came away with the win as well for his 1/3 inning of work.
