CHICAGO, June 28 (UPI) -- Pat Burrell homered and drove in three runs Tuesday, powering the San Francisco Giants to a 13-7 win over the Chicago Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader.
Burrell connected for a two-run shot and added an RBI single while Aaron Rowand contributed a bases-clearing double in the fifth inning for the Giants, who pounded out 18 hits in their sixth straight win.
Ryan Vogelsong (6-1) earned the victory despite yielding a season-worst six runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks. The right-hander entered the game having allowed two or fewer runs in nine straight starts.
Chicago starter Doug Davis (1-7) was blasted for 10 runs on 12 hits before being yanked after 4 1/3 innings.
Carlos Pena clubbed a two-run homer and Koyie Hill added a solo shot for the Cubs, who lost for the fifth time in seven games.
