MLB: New York Mets 14, Detroit 3

DETROIT, June 28 (UPI) -- Jason Bay and Carlos Beltran each hit a grand slam Tuesday in the New York Mets' 14-3 interleague rout of Detroit.

Bay's slam came in the fourth inning and capped a seven-run Mets uprising that put them ahead 9-0. Beltran hit his home run in the fifth, turning the game into a 13-0 blowout as the Mets pounded out 18 hits.

Josh Thole added a solo home runt, Angel Pagan went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Daniel Murphy drove in runs with a first-inning double and a single in the fourth for New York, which moved above .500 (40-39).

Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (4-7) earned the victory, holding the Tigers to three runs on 10 hits over seven innings, walking three and striking out six.

Detroit starter Rick Porcello (6-6) lost for the third time in four starts. He was lit up for seven runs on 11 hits before exiting after 3 2/3 innings.

Austin Jackson hit a two-run home run and Andy Dirks added a solo shot for the Tigers.
