ANAHEIM, Calif., June 28 (UPI) -- Maicer Izturis stroked a bases-loaded single in the 10th inning Monday, lifting the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-3 interleague win over Washington.
Alberto Callaspo (3-for-5) singled and Peter Bourjos (4-for-5) hit a ground-rule double off Sean Burnett (3-4) with one out in the 10th. Bobby Wilson was intentionally walked to load the bases, bringing up Izturis, and the Angels second baseman lined a solid hit up the middle for the game-winner.
Scott Downs (5-2) earned the victory after starter Ervin Santana had tossed eight innings of two-run ball for Los Angeles, which improved to .500 (40-40).
Washington's Danny Espinoza belted a game-tying solo homer in the top of the ninth off Angels closer Jordan Walden to force extra innings.
Michael Morse and Ryan Zimmerman connected for solo shots for the Nationals.
