Rescuers were seen using special equipment to free at least one other person trapped inside the bus, the newspaper said.

The mishap caused traffic to be backed up and detoured off the freeway.

Charles' basket gave N.C. State a victory over the heavily-favored "Phi Slama Jama" Houston Cougars of Akeem Olajuwon and Clyde "The Glide" Drexler.

He was selected by Atlanta in the 1985 NBA draft and played one year for the Hawks before continuing his professional career in Europe.
