KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 26 (UPI) -- Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-4 and drove in one of four first-inning runs Sunday that carried Kansas City to a 6-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Francoeur, Brett Butler, Alex Gordon and Matt Treanor each collected RBIs in the big first inning as the Royals pounded out 13 hits and took the rubber match of their three-game interleague series with the Cubs.
Luke Hochevar (5-8) earned the win, surrendering three runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 frames while walking three and striking out five.
Louis Coleman, Tim Collins and Aaron Crow combined for 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and Joakim Soria racked up his 13th save in the ninth for the Royals.
Randy Wells (1-2) lasted six innings for Chicago, yielding six runs on 10 hits.
Geovany Soto went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and an RBI double in the Cubs' loss.
