MLB: Chicago Cubs 6, Kansas City 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 24 (UPI) -- Tony Campana scored on a ninth-inning error to give Chicago the lead Friday and the Cubs went on to defeat Kansas City 6-4.

The Royals lost their sixth straight in ugly fashion after it appeared they would escape a ninth-inning jam.

Campana reached on a one-out single in the ninth against Aaron Crow (2-1) and moved to third on a base hit by D.J. LeMahieu. Kosuke Fukudome then hit what looked to be a perfect double play grounder but second baseman Chris Getz bobbled the ball as Campana raced in with the go-ahead run.

Starlin Castro singled in an insurance run to help the Cubs snap a two-game skid.

Kansas City rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take the lead with a three-run fourth, two of the runs scoring on a homer by Jeff Francoeur. Chicago then tied it in the seventh when Carlos Pena scored on a double play grounder.

Sean Marshall (4-2) got the win by working the eighth inning.

Carlos Marmol put runners on second and third with two away in the ninth before getting Alex Gordon on a grounder to shortstop. It was Marmol's 16th save.
