MLB: Oakland 7, New York Mets 3

NEW YORK, June 22 (UPI) -- Ryan Sweeney went 4-for-5 with an RBI Tuesday, boosting the Oakland Athletics to their sixth straight victory with a 7-3 decision over the New York Mets.

Sweeney's run-scoring single in the third inning put the A's ahead 4-0 while Conor Jackson drove in runs with a bases-loaded walk and a groundout. Oakland won a sixth straight game for the first time since 2009.

Josh Outman (3-1) yielded only one earned run on four hits over six innings to collect the victory, walking two and striking out four.

Dillon Gee (7-1) was saddled with his first loss after 14 starts, coming up short in his bid to become first Mets pitcher to win his first eight decisions in a season since Dwight Gooden in 1988.

Gee yielded six walks and three hits before being pulled after surrendering four runs.

Jason Bay went 3-for-3 with a triple, a solo homer and a walk for New York.
