MLB: Tampa Bay 8, Milwaukee 4

MILWAUKEE, June 21 (UPI) -- Evan Longoria drove in four runs and Jeff Niemann tossed six shutout innings Monday in the Tampa Bay Rays' 8-4 interleague win over Milwaukee.

Longoria notched an RBI single during a four-run uprising in the seventh inning that broke the game open, and then hit a three-run homer in the eighth for the Rays, who took the first of a three-game series against the Brewers.

B.J. Upton added two RBI and Ben Zobrist contributed a run-scoring double for Tampa Bay.

Niemann (2-4) was effective in his first start after six weeks on the disabled list with a lower back strain. He scattered four hits, walked three and struck out five.

Chris Narveson (4-5) was tagged for four runs on five hits in a 6 2/3-inning start for the Brewers.

Jonathan Lucroy hit a solo homer for Milwaukee, which fell to 15-24 on the road and dropped a half-game behind idle St. Louis atop the National League Central.
