Dodig blasted 16 aces and won nearly two-thirds of the points on serve. He lost just four points on serve in the second set.

However, that was the only quarterfinals completed Thursday as rain caused three matches to be suspended.

Dodig will play the winner of a match between Marco Baghdatis and Denis Gremelmayr, which didn't even get started Thursday.

Also in the quarterfinals, Santiago Giraldo is serving down 0-40 with the third set tied at 4-4 against Dmitry Tursunov, and third-seeded Xavier Malisse is up 6-2, 4-3 while serving at 40-40 against Alex Bogomolov.
