VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 15 (UPI) -- A man willing to spend $4,400 on tickets to Wednesday's Stanley Cup final hockey game in Vancouver was lured online and robbed, police said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the unidentified victim spotted an ad for a pair of seats for the game between the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins on the Craigslist Internet sales site and arranged to meet the seller.

They met Monday in a parking lot in Coquitlam, some 15 miles east of Vancouver and got into a car, The (Vancouver) Province reported.

Once in the vehicle, the man who advertised the tickets pulled an undisclosed weapon and demanded the cash, police said.

RCMP Cpl. Patrick Meehain said the thief told the victim he had three other people lined up with a similar plan to rob them.

He said there have already been three other ticket-related Craigslist theft scams since Boston tied the best-of-seven series Monday night.
