NFL eyeing infringement in porn star ad

NEW YORK, June 15 (UPI) -- The NFL says it is looking into a possible trademark infringement involving five players who appeared in an advertisement that also featured porn stars.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Kansas City Star the league is investigating an incident in which the players appeared in their uniforms on a flyer promoting a party at a Miami Beach, Fla., club, to kick off Exxxotica, a three-day, adult-themed expo held in the city last month.

Also on the flyer issued by Club Play were six photographs of porn stars, the newspaper said.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs Eric Berry and Brandon Flowers, Houston Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson, Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jacoby Ford and Chicago Bears safety Major Wright were pictured on the flyer.

"The concern is the fact that players appear in their team uniforms" on the flyer, McCarthy told the Star.

He wouldn't comment, however, on whether the players' involvement in a party featuring porn stars was also a concern.

Berry's agent issued a statement to the newspaper saying his client wasn't involved in the party and a Chiefs spokesman said the team wouldn't comment on the matter.
