MLB: Boston 3, Tampa Bay 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 15 (UPI) -- Josh Beckett gave up only an infield single in the third en route to his fifth career shutout Wednesday, bringing Boston a 3-0 win over Tampa Bay.

Kevin Youkilis accounted for all the scoring with a seventh-inning homer, helping the Red Sox to their 10th win in 11 games.

Beckett (6-2) faced just 28 batters while throwing 97 pitches. The only batter to reach base against him was Reid Brignac, who produced his infield single with one away in the third and then went to second on an errant pick-off throw by Beckett.

Johnny Damon then struck out looking to end the inning.

Tampa Bay starter Jeremy Hillickson (7-5) took a shutout into the seventh, but he gave up a one-out triple in that inning to Dustin Pedroia. Adrian Gonzalez was walked intentionally to get to Youkilis, who hit an 0-1 pitch out to left for his 10th homer of the season.

The Rays had won three of their previous four.
