DENVER, June 14 (UPI) -- Anthony Bass earned a victory in his major league debut Monday, hurling five strong innings in the San Diego Padres' 3-1 win over Colorado.

The 23-year-old right-hander was 7-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 12 minor-league starts this season before getting the call-up to the Padres, who won the first of a three-game set at Coors Field.

Ryan Ludwick drove in a pair of runs with a sacrifice fly and a groundout in a game that was delayed for 1 hour, 23 minutes by rain.

Aaron Cook (0-1), making only his second start after breaking his right leg on a line drive off the bat of Cincinnati's Joey Votto last September, absorbed the loss, allowing two runs on five hits through 5 2/3 innings.

Charlie Blackmon got Colorado's only RBI with a fourth-inning single.
