MLB: Los Angeles Angels 6, Seattle 3

SEATTLE, June 14 (UPI) -- Vernon Wells' second homer of the game Monday was a go-ahead blast in the seventh inning that rallied the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-3 victory over Seattle.

Trailing 3-2 entering the seventh, the Angels scored three times to claim only their second win in nine games and take the first contest of a three game set against the Mariners.

Wells had also homered in the third, a solo shot.

Dan Haren (6-4) collected the victory after tossing six innings, during which he yielded three runs on seven hits and no walks. He struck out seven Mariners.

Rich Thompson and Scott Downs each turned in a scoreless inning of relief and Jordan Walden racked up his 15th save for the Angels.

Vargas ended up allowing five runs on six hits in a seven-inning effort for the M's.
