'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, June 14 (UPI) -- No. 4-seeded Ivan Dodig claimed a straight-set win Tuesday that moved him into the quarterfinals of the UNICEF Open tennis tournament in the Netherlands.
Dodig topped Andreas Haider-Maurer 6-4, 6-3 behind three service breaks. Dodig won just two fewer points (31-33) off Haider-Maurer's serve than Haider-Maurer managed and lost his own serve only once.
Teymuraz Gabashvili also won a second-round match Tuesday, taking out Javier Marti 7-6 (8-6), 6-3. Gabashvili lost all three of the break points he faced but advanced by finishing off four of the 10 he had against Marti.
The first-round wrapped up Tuesday with third-seeded Xavier Malisse and No. 5-seeded Jarkko Nieminen among straight-set winners.
Malisse, despite dropping serve once, lost only 14 points over eight service games in a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Alejandro Falla while Nieminen won nearly three-quarters of the points in the second set of a 7-5, 6-1 win over Maximo Gonzalez.
Alex Bogomolov ousted seventh-seeded Jeremy Chardy 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) in a match that took nearly 2 1/2 hours.
Tuesday's other results saw Santiago Giraldo defeat Michael Russell 7-6 (7-4), 6-3; Jesse Huta Galung top Julian Reister 6-2, 3-6, 7-5; and Robin Haase get past Mischa Zverev 6-3, 6-4.
