BALTIMORE, June 10 (UPI) -- Nick Markakis drove in a career-best six runs Friday, four of them with a second-inning grand slam that sent the Baltimore Orioles sailing past Tampa Bay 7-0.
Jake Arrieta (8-3) teamed with two relievers on a three-hit shutout for Baltimore's fourth straight win and sixth in its last eight games.
J.J. Hardy opened the scoring with a solo homer in the first and Markakis then took over with his grand slam and a two-run double in the eighth.
The slam by Markakis came after Jeremy Hellickson (7-4) had walked Luke Scott, given up a double to Mark Reynolds and then walked Hardy to load the bases.
Arrieta allowed two hits, struck out four and walked three over seven innings to win his second straight start.
Tampa Bay was coming off a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels.
