MLB: Milwaukee 7, New York Mets 6

MILWAUKEE, June 9 (UPI) -- A two-out double by Nyjer Morgan in the ninth drove in Craig Counsell from second Wednesday and gave the Milwaukee Brewers a 7-6 win over the New York Mets.

The game was a well-pitched contest through seven innings, with the Brewers clinging to a 2-1 lead, but things turned wild the rest of the way, ending with Milwaukee's fifth win in six games. The Mets had won three in a row.

New York stormed in front with a five-run eighth, featuring a three-run homer from Ronny Paulino, his first home run of the season.

Milwaukee came back with four in the bottom half of the inning to tie it at 6-6, two of the runs scoring on Prince Fielder's second two-run homer of the game. He had a two-run shot in the fourth and ran his home run total for the year to 17, tying him for the National League lead.

The ninth-inning run was surrendered by Dale Thayer (0-1), who gave up a one-out single to Counsell.

Counsell stole second as Rickie Weeks was striking out, then scored on Morgan's double to right.

That made a winner out of John Axford (2-1), who had worked the top of the ninth.
