SAN FRANCISCO, June 8 (UPI) -- Jordan Zimmermann held San Francisco to five hits in seven innings Tuesday in leading the Washington Nationals to a 2-1 road win over the Giants.
Zimmermann (4-6) allowed one run and drove in what turned out to be the winning run with a fourth-inning sacrifice bunt.
Wilson Ramos had a pair of hits for the Nationals, who had lost 11 of their last 17 games.
Jonathan Sanchez (4-4) took the loss, giving up two runs on four hits over five innings. Sanchez struck out six and walked five.
The Giants staked Sanchez to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI double by Nate Schierholtz but Washington bounced back with single runs in the third and fourth inning.
Laynce Nix walked to open the third and scored on Ian Desmond's single to tie the score 1-1. Washington took the lead in the fourth when Zimmermann bunted Rick Ankiel in from third with one out.
Washington Manager Jim Riggleman sat out the game due to a one-game suspension over a throwing incidents during Sunday's game against Arizona. He was thrown out of that game for arguing after Jason Marquis was ejected for hitting Justin Upton in the back.
