MLB: Texas 7, Detroit 3

ARLINGTON, Texas, June 8 (UPI) -- Alexi Ogando allowed a lone run over 7 2/3 innings to remain unbeaten Wednesday and the Texas Rangers benefited from a key error to defeat Detroit 7-3.

Ogando (7-0) surrendered six hits and struck out seven. He had a 4-1 record as a relief pitcher during his 2010 rookie season and all seven victories this year have come as a starter.

He became the first pitcher to win his first seven career decisions as a starter since Jered Weaver of the Los Angeles Angels captured his first nine in 2006.

Texas had lost the first two games of the three-game series but has won nine of its last 12. The Tigers had a four-game winning streak snapped.

The Rangers overcame an early 1-0 deficit with a four-run third. With the bases loaded and one out, Craig Gentry hit a routine ground ball to third baseman Don Kelly. His throw home was wild and two runs scored on the play.

Josh Hamilton added a two-run double in the inning and Adrian Beltre tacked on an RBI single in the fifth and a solo homer in the seventh.

Phil Coke (1-6) took the loss in his first start off the disabled list, allowing six runs on 10 hits. Two of the runs were unearned thanks to Kelly's error.
