HOUSTON, June 7 (UPI) -- Pitcher Jake Westbrook's two-out, bases-clearing double in the fourth inning Tuesday broke a tie and lifted the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-4 win over Houston.
Yadier Molina and Skip Schumaker each singled with two outs in the fourth off Brett Myers (2-5) and Daniel Descalso was intentionally walked to get to Westbrook, but the pitcher crossed up Houston's strategy by slugging Myers' first pitch into the left-center field gap, scoring three runs and boosting the first-place Cardinals to their fifth straight win over the Astros.
Westbrook (6-3) yielded three runs (two earned) on eight hits in a 5 1/3-inning effort.
Four St. Louis relievers combined for 1 2/3 frames of scoreless relief and Fernando Salas pitched the final two innings to pick up his 11th save.
Lance Berkman socked a two-run homer and Albert Pujols added a solo shot for the Cardinals.
Myers went six innings for Houston, surrendering five runs on six hits.
Carlos Lee hit a two-run homer and Chris Johnson had two hits, including a run-scoring double, for the Astros.
