ARLINGTON, Texas, June 7 (UPI) -- Brennan Boesch went 5-for-5, smacked two homers and drove in five runs Monday, keying the Detroit Tigers' 13-7 slugfest win over Texas.
Boesch's first homer, a three-run shot, gave Detroit a 3-0 lead in the first inning. He added a solo shot and an RBI double for the Tigers, who pounded out 18 hits.
Boesch, Andy Dirks and Alex Avila all homered in a four-run third inning and Danny Worth drove in three runs with a pair of singles as the Tigers won for the seventh time in eight games.
Max Scherzer (7-2) notched his first win nearly a month despite yielding five runs on eight hits in a five-inning start, walking one and fanning four.
Colby Lewis (5-6) was rocked for nine runs, surrendering 10 hits over 3 1/3 innings as Texas saw its five-game winning streak snapped.
Nelson Cruz bashed a pair of homers and drove in four runs while Ian Kinsler went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the Rangers' loss.
