MLB: Texas 7, Cleveland 4

CLEVELAND, June 2 (UPI) -- Yorvit Torrealba's sacrifice fly put Texas in front during its second straight three-run inning Thursday and the Rangers went on to down Cleveland 7-4.

The Rangers faced an early three-run deficit, but took the lead by scoring three times in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Texas survived a late change in pitching plans to win for the fifth time in six games. Cleveland had captured its previous two outings.

Matt Harrison missed his scheduled start for the Rangers due to a blister on his right index finger.

Dave Bush made the start and lasted four innings. Michael Kirkman then turned in a three-inning relief effort that brought him the first win of his 17-game major league career.

Kirkman (1-0) gave up only one hit, a seventh-inning solo homer by Matt LaPorta. Neftali Feliz allowed a hit and struck out one in the ninth for his 12th save.

After Torrealba drove in the first Texas run in the fifth on a groundout, Elvis Andrus and Josh Hamilton produced two-out RBI singles.

Nelson Cruz scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on Torrealba's sacrifice fly. Endy Chavez tripled in a run later in the inning and scored on a wild pickoff attempt by catcher Carlos Santana.
