Overbay and Paul had RBI singles in both innings, during which the Pirates sent 19 men to the plate and produced their nine runs on 10 hits. Pittsburgh had 14 hits overall, three of them from Andrew McCutchen.

Kevin Correia (8-4) got the win by surviving six innings. He threw his last pitch with Pittsburgh trailing 2-0, but became the winner when the Pirates came to life on offense in the seventh.

Correia gave up two runs on six hits and became the first eight-game winner in the majors this season.

New York starter Chris Capuano (3-6) allowed five runs in six-plus innings to take the loss.

The Mets came up with their first home run in 11 games when Justin Turner hit a solo shot in the eighth.
