MLB: Cleveland 13, Toronto 9

TORONTO, June 1 (UPI) -- Matt LaPorta's three-run homer kicked off an eight-run third inning Wednesday and the Cleveland Indians built a huge lead before fighting off Toronto 13-9.

The Indians pounded out 18 hits and seized a 12-0 advantage through three innings before the Blue Jays tried to make a game of it.

Cleveland sent 13 batters to the plate in the third inning, during which LaPorta hit his seventh homer and Asdrubal Cabrera drove in two runs with a double.

Cabrera had three doubles overall, one of which also brought in a run while the Indians were scoring four times in the first. Cabrera went 4-for-6 and scored twice.

Rajai Davis hit a three-run homer for the Blue Jays in the fifth. Toronto has lost two in a row after winning four straight.

Josh Tomlin (7-2) got the win despite giving up six runs on eight hits in six innings.

Toronto starter Kyle Drabek (3-4) retired only two batters, surrendering four runs on three hits with three walks.
