ATLANTA, May 31 (UPI) -- Chris Denorfia's go-ahead single in the seventh inning ignited a three-run rally Tuesday that carried the San Diego Padres to a 5-4 win over Atlanta.
The Padres broke open a 2-2 game in the seventh when they collected four hits and scored three times, giving them their second win in a three-game series against the Braves.
Pinch-hitter Eric Patterson drew a leadoff walk from Atlanta starter Mike Minor (0-2), stole second and then scored the go-ahead run when Denorfia lined a single past shortstop off reliever Cory Gearrin.
Ryan Ludwick (4-for-5) and Jorge Cantu added RBI in the big inning, making a winner of Mat Latos (3-6), who limited the Braves to two runs on five hits over six innings.
Heath Bell got his 14th save despite allowing the Braves to pull to within a run in the ninth on Chipper Jones' second RBI single within a three-inning span.
Minor was tagged for three runs on eight hits in six-plus innings.
Freddy Freeman went 3-for-4 with a two-run double for Atlanta.
