DENVER, May 29 (UPI) -- Kyle Lohse threw six strong innings and Jon Jay belted a two-run homer Sunday, carrying the St. Louis Cardinals to a 4-3 win over Colorado.
Lohse (7-2) won his third straight start, holding the Rockies to two runs on six hits over six frames, walking only one and striking out six. It was the ninth start in 10 outings in which the right-hander has yielded two runs or fewer.
Eduardo Sanchez hurled 1 2/3 scoreless innings and Fernando Salas racked up his ninth save, logging the final four outs as St. Louis took the rubber match of a three-game series.
Jay's blast gave the Cards a 2-0 lead in the first and Colby Rasmus added a solo shot for St. Louis.
Jhoulys Chacin (5-4) absorbed the defeat, letting in four runs on six hits in a six-inning start for the struggling Rockies, who wrapped up a 2-4 homestead.
Ty Wigginton went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Colorado.
