Nicasio (1-0) was impressive in his big league debut after being called up from Class AA Tulsa. The 24-year-old right-hander held the Cardinals to only one unearned run on six hits over seven innings, walking two and fanning two.

St. Louis hurler Jamie Garcia (5-1), meanwhile, was tagged with his first loss in 11 starts this season. He was roughed up for 12 runs (11 earned) on 11 hits in 3 1/3 frames.
