MLB: Toronto 7, New York Yankees 3

NEW YORK, May 23 (UPI) -- J.P. Arencibia hit a bases-clearing double and homered Monday, powering the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-3 victory over the New York Yankees.

Arencibia's three-run double capped a five-run uprising in the sixth that broke a 1-1 tie and carried Toronto to a victory in the first contest of a three-game series.

The Blue Jays catcher added a solo shot in the eighth, finishing with four RBI, and Aaron Hill added two hits and a run batted in for the victors.

Carlos Villanueva (2-0) earned the win in his first start of the season, taking the spot in Toronto's rotation held by the injured Jesse Litsch. Villanueva held New York to one run on two hits over five innings, walking one and striking out five.

Bartolo Colon (2-3) was tagged for six runs on seven hits in a six-inning start for the Yankees.

Robinson Cano drove in all three New York runs.
