CARSON, Calif., May 22 (UPI) -- Chad Barrett scored in the 26th minute Saturday and the Los Angeles Galaxy held on for a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA in their SuperClasico game.

Barrett scored his third goal of the year on a header from the near side of the penalty area on a set-piece play that started with an assist from David Beckham.

It was Beckham's sixth helper for the Galaxy (6-2-5), who extended their unbeaten streak over the Goats in the series to nine matches and improved their Western Conference lead to six points over Seattle.

Chivas (3-4-3) nearly scored the equalizer in the 65th minute but Ben Zemanski's drive just missed, hitting the upper left goalpost.
