MLB: Atlanta 5, LA Angels 4 (12 innings)

ANAHEIM, Calif., May 22 (UPI) -- Joe Mather's RBI double in the 12th inning handed the Atlanta Braves a 5-4 inter-league victory over the Los Angeles Angels Saturday.

Alex Gonzalez grounded a two-out hit into shallow center in the 12th that Angels second baseman Alexi Amarista kicked and then failed to run after immediately, allowing Gonzalez to scamper into second.

Mather then made Los Angeles pay by lacing an RBI hit into the right field corner off Trevor Bell (1-1), completing a Braves comeback from a 4-0 deficit and evening their three-game set with the Angels.

Mather (4-for-6, four RBI) also belted a three-run homer in the seventh to pull the Braves to within 4-3, and Brian McCann followed three batters later with a run-scoring double off Fernando Rodney to knot the score.

Scott Proctor (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless 11th inning and Craig Kimbrel notched his 12th save in the 12th.

Bobby Abreu smacked a two-run homer and Torii Hunted added a pair of RBI for Los Angeles.
