MLB: Pittsburgh 6, Detroit 2

PITTSBURGH, May 21 (UPI) -- Kevin Correia held the Tigers to two runs over 6 2/3 innings Saturday and the Pittsburgh Pirates registered a 6-2 inter-league win over Detroit.

Correia (6-4) broke a personal two-game losing streak, yielding seven hits but issuing no walks while striking out four for the Pirates, who clinched their three-game series with the Tigers.

Jose Veras and Joe Beimel combined for 1 1/3 scoreless frames and Joel Hanrahan picked up his 13th save for the Bucs, who won their fourth straight.

Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Lyle Overbay pushed across the go-ahead run with a sixth-inning sacrifice fly and Matt Diaz added a two-run single in the win.

Max Scherzer (6-1) was saddled with his first loss of the year, surrendering three runs on seven hits in a 5 2/3-inning start.

Miguel Cabrera had two hits an RBI for the Tigers, whose losing skid reached five games.
