After the Yankees took a 5-0 lead in the first they added four in the fourth, one of the runs scoring on a triple by Derek Jeter. Mark Teixeira hit a two-run homer in the inning, his 10th blast of the season.

Swisher's fourth RBI came in the fifth on a fielder's choice grounder.

CC Sabathia (4-3) benefited from the support to claim an easy victory. He did not give up a run over eight innings while striking out nine.

Both of the Baltimore runs came in the ninth off Amauri Sanit.

Bergesen (1-5) was given the start in place of previously scheduled starter Jeremy Guthrie, who came on in relief during Baltimore's 15-inning loss Wednesday.
