BALTIMORE, May 19 (UPI) -- Robinson Cano snapped a 15th-inning tie with a two-run double Wednesday and the New York Yankees went on to outlast Baltimore 4-1.
The three-run outburst in the 15th gave the win to Hector Noesi in what turned out to be a wild major league debut. The Orioles forced extra innings with a run in the ninth and the game then dragged on until the Yankees broke through against three Baltimore relievers in the 15th.
New York has won two in a row on the heels of a six-game losing streak.
Mark Teixeira singled to open the 15th against Jeremy Accardo (2-1), the seventh of nine Baltimore pitchers. Alex Rodriguez singled Teixeira to second and Mike Gonzalez came on in relief of Accardo.
Cano hit the first pitch from Gonzalez for a double that scored both runners and Cano went to third when center fielder Adam Jones misplayed the ball for an error. A sacrifice fly by Brett Gardner off Jeremy Guthrie delivered Cano with the third run of the inning.
Noesi (1-0) was called on to start the 12th inning for the Yankees and he went the rest of the way despite giving up four hits and walking four in his four innings. He left runners on second and third in the 12th and put two on in the 13th before striking out Mark Reynolds to end the inning.
Baltimore came up with two hits and a walk in the 15th without scoring against Noesi.
