NEW YORK, May 17 (UPI) -- Pitcher Burke Badenhop drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the 11th inning Monday, lifting the Florida Marlins to a 2-1 win over the New York Mets.
Badenhop then poked a hit into right-center field past diving Mets second baseman Chin-lung Hu, chasing home Stanton with only his second career hit.
Badenhop (1-0) also picked up the victory with a scoreless 10th inning, despite allowing a pair of walks.
Leo Nunez surrendered a two-out triple to pinch-hitter Jonathon Niese in the bottom of the 11th but notched his 15th save by inducing Jose Reyes to strike out to end the game.
Stanton homered in the seventh to tie the game for Florida, which notched its 13th come-from-behind win of the year.
Mets starter Mike Pelfrey held the Marlins to only the one run on six hits over seven innings of work.
