ROME, May 14 (UPI) -- Maria Sharapova staged an upset of world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki Saturday, advancing to the finals of the Internazionali d'Italia in Rome.
The Russian stunned the top-seeded Wozniacki in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 on the clay courts of Foro Italico, advancing to her second WTA singles final of the year.
Sharapova racked up seven service breaks in the 1 hour, 50 minute match. She now goes on to face Samantha Stosur after the sixth-seeded Aussie downed Li Na 7-6 (8-6), 6-0 to reach her first final of 2011.
Stosur was runner-up in last year's French Open and has a career record of 2-7 in championship matches.
She registered 74 percent of both first-serve points and total service points won.
Li hung tough until the tie-breaker of the first set when she began committing unforced errors. Fatigue in the second set doomed her to a shutout.
