Report: McLane set to sell Astros

HOUSTON, May 14 (UPI) -- Drayton McLane, owner of the Houston Astros for 19 years, has agreed to sell the club, Major League Baseball's Web site reported Friday.

The report on MLB.com said McLane planned to sell the Astros to Houston businessman Jim Crane. The selling price was not disclosed.

McLane purchased the team in 1992 and since then the Astros have had 14 winning season, won four division titles and reached the playoffs six times.

Houston played in its only World Series in 2005, but was swept by the Chicago White Sox.

Crane is the chief executive officer and founder of Houston-based Crane Capital Group.
