MLS: D.C. United 1, Colorado 1 (tie)

WASHINGTON, May 14 (UPI) -- Chris Pontius converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute Saturday, earning D.C. United a 1-1 draw with Colorado.

Pontius got the big opportunity when he drew a foul by Kosuke Kimura in the Rapids' area.

United (3-4-3) earned the point despite allowing the game's first goal for just the second time in six games when Drew Moor connected in the 24th minute for Colorado.

The defending MLS champions fell to 4-3-3 with the tie.
