MLB: Texas 4, Los Angeles Angels 1

ARLINGTON, Texas, May 13 (UPI) -- Alexi Ogando outdueled Jered Weaver Friday in a battle of two of the American League's top pitchers in boosting Texas to a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Ogando, who came into the game with an ERA of 2.17, remained unbeaten by limiting the Angels to a run on five hits over 6 1/3 innings. He improved to 5-0 while striking out five.

Three relievers allowed a lone hit over the final 2 2/3, with Neftali Feliz working the ninth for his seventh save.

Weaver (6-3) had a 1.87 ERA prior to the start, but he allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings.

Elvis Andrus had a solo homer for the Rangers in the first and added an RBI single in the fifth. Michael Young put Texas in front for good with a double in the fourth that brought home Ian Kinsler, and Adrian Beltre finished the scoring with a homer in the sixth.

Texas has won back-to-back games for the first time since April 23-24 and moved within a half game of the Angels for first place in the American League West.
