MLB: Houston 4, Cincinnati 3

HOUSTON, May 11 (UPI) -- Hunter Pence drove home the game-winning run with a double in the bottom of the ninth Wednesday, handing the Houston Astros a 4-3 decision over Cincinnati.

J.R. Towles drew a one-out walk from Mike Leake (3-2) and Pence followed by slicing a 3-2 pitch into the right field corner, allowing Towles to easily score the decisive run.

Pence's hit made a winner of Mark Melancon (3-1), who tossed a scoreless top of the ninth as the Astros avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Reds.

Michael Bourn had a pair of RBI in Houston's win.

Reds starter Edinson Volquez issued five walks and allowed three hits in a four-inning start, during which he gave up three earned runs.

Drew Stubbs notched a solo homer for Cincinnati.
