PITTSBURGH, May 10 (UPI) -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers guard Alan Faneca announced Tuesday he has retired from the NFL after a 13-year career.

Faneca, named to the Pro Bowl nine times, spent 10 seasons with the Steelers. He was voted onto Pittsburgh's 75th Anniversary all-time team last year.

After playing with the New York Jets for two seasons starting in 2008, the former first-round pick from Louisiana State played with the Arizona last year, finishing up a 206-game career.

"After a lot of thought I am announcing my retirement from professional football," Faneca said in a statement. "Playing in the NFL has been a childhood dream come true. Thirteen years later I have decided that it is time to move on."
