MLB: Atlanta 5, Philadelphia 0

PHILADELPHIA, May 6 (UPI) -- Derek Lowe took a no-hitter into the seventh Friday and received near-perfect relief help to bring the Atlanta Braves a 5-0 victory over Philadelphia.

The Braves overcame a club-record equaling 16-strikeout show by Cliff Lee to win their sixth straight. The Phillies have lost 10 times this season, fewest in the National League.

Lowe (3-3) walked a batter in the second but no other Philadelphia batter reached base until Shane Victorino singled to lead off the seventh. Placido Polanco then delivered a ground-rule double that sent Victorino to third and Eric O'Flaherty came on to relieve Lowe.

O'Flaherty struck out the next three batters to end the threat, Jonny Venters threw a 1-2-3 eighth and Craig Kimbrel worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth in a non-save situation.

Chipper Jones singled in Atlanta's first run in the third and both Brian McCann and Dan Uggla had an RBI double later in the inning.

Martin Prado and Alex Gonzalez each had a run-scoring single in the ninth.

Lee (2-3) gave up three runs on nine hits in seven innings. Only five Atlanta outs against Lee were made on something other than a strikeout. He threw 117 pitches.
