OAKLAND, Calif., May 5 (UPI) -- Two solo homers from David DeJesus and a seven-inning performance by unbeaten Trevor Cahill Wednesday brought the Oakland A's a 3-1 win over Cleveland.
The Indians had a seven-game winning streak snapped.
DeJesus hit home runs in the first and fourth innings off Josh Tomlin, who gave up only one other hit over 7 2/3 innings and still lost for the first time this season. Tomlin (4-1) did not walk a batter and struck out five.
The second home run by DeJesus gave Oakland a 2-1 lead and the Athletics added a run in the eighth on an RBI single from Coco Crisp.
Cahill (5-0) surrendered five hits, walked three and struck out five in helping bring Oakland its fifth win in seven games.
Grant Balfour worked around a one-out, ninth-inning walk to pick up his first save in two years and his ninth in eight major league seasons.
Cleveland had not lost since dropping a 4-3 decision April 24 at Minnesota.
