PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., May 4 (UPI) -- A man accused of stalking U.S. tennis star Serena Williams is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail on $25,000 bond, police in Florida said.

Patenema Ouedraogo, 40, of Texas, was arrested outside the tennis star's South Florida home Monday evening carrying a love letter he had written to Williams, WTVJ-TV in Miami reported.

A security guard said Williams was not home at the time of the incident but her older sister Venus had just driven into the gated community when Ouedraogo arrived.

He later told police he was in love with Serena Williams and that she reciprocated his feelings, a report by police indicated.

Williams' attorney told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel the tennis star had obtained a restraining order against Ouedraogo, who had shown up at several of her public appearances and lied about his connection to the celebrity.
