ST. LOUIS, May 4 (UPI) -- Daniel Descalso lined a go-ahead, three-run homer in the seventh inning Tuesday and the St. Louis Cardinals hung on to down Florida 7-5.
With one out in the seventh, Florida's Ryan Webb (0-3) walked Lance Berkman and surrendered a single to Colby Rasmus. After Yadier Molina grounded into a fielder's choice, Clay Hensley came on to pitch and Descalso greeted him with a low liner to right that just cleared the fence and erased a 5-4 deficit for St. Louis.
Jason Motte held the lead in the eighth and Eduardo Sanchez picked up his second save with a scoreless ninth as the Cardinals evened their four-game series against the Marlins at one win apiece.
Fernando Salas (1-0) earned the victory despite allowing a game-tying RBI single to Gaby Sanchez (4-for-5) in the seventh.
Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez lasted only 4 1/3 innings, issuing six walks while yielding four runs (three earned) on six hits.
